Ontario Health System Quality and Innovation Award

2025: Dr. Gina Agarwal developed and leads the CP@clinic program designed to keep low-income older adults healthy at home and reduce avoidable 911 calls that was recognized with a health system innovation award. Community Paramedicine at Clinic (CP@clinic) won the Ontario Health System Quality and Innovation Award (OHSQI) in the Population Health Impact Category for 2025. This award is presented by Ontario Health, the Ontario Medical Association, the Ontario Hospitals Association, and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health.

CIHR-ICRH/CCCS Distinguished Lecturer Award in Critical Care Sciences

2024: Awarded to Dr. Robert Fowler for his outstanding contribution to the advancement of critical care sciences in Canada.

The University Health Network Quality Improvement Project Competition

2024: Awarded to Dr. Jonathan Persitz by the University Health Network (UHN), for Predicting surgical versus nonsurgical management of acute isolated distal radius fractures in patients under age 60 using a convolutional neural network

Canada Research Chair in Primary Healthcare and Health Equity (CIHR Tier 1)

2023: Awarded to Dr. Maria Mathews for the project “Enhancing health equity through primary health-care research.” Read more

Ontario Medical Foundation Award

The Foundation awarded $42,500 to Dr. Ivers to study physician burnout. Dr. Ivers work will look at training family physicians to act as peer guides for their colleagues to help them address practice issues.

Joseph H. Boyes Award

2023: Awarded to Dr. Jonathan Persitz by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), for Validation of the lift-off screw technique in patients undergoing corrective osteotomy for malunited distal radius fractures.

First Place McMurrich Award

2023: Awarded to Dr. Jonathan Persitz by the Department of Surgery, University of Toronto, for Validation of the lift-off screw technique in patients undergoing corrective osteotomy for malunited distal radius fractures.

Polanyi Prize

2022: Dr. Kieran Quinn awarded Polanyi Prize in Physiology and Medicine. The prizes are awarded annually to early-career researchers making significant, ground-breaking contributions to Ontario’s research sector.

Officer of the Order of Canada

2022: Dr. Andreas Laupacis named a Fellow of the Order of Canada for his contributions to the field of medicine and to healthcare initiatives in Canada and internationally.
