ICES COVID-19 Dashboard

This dashboard provides an overview of the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of individuals who are eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccination in Ontario.

Overview

By linking COVID-19 vaccination data from the COVaxON provincial database to health and other administrative data from the ICES data repository, we describe below the demographic characteristics and medical histories of those who are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine according to where they live, and the number of vaccine doses received.

The dashboard is updated on a monthly basis.

COVID-19 Glossary

FSA refers to the first three characters of a postal code.

Refers to a health agency that provides community health programs to a specific region. There are 34 PHUs in Ontario.

Broadly refers to the estimated percentage of people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19. It is usually expressed as a rate per 100 persons for a defined group (e.g., age group, residents living in a geographical area [e.g., Ontario, FSA, PHU]). More specifically, people can be classified as having received at least 1 dose, at least 2 doses, at least 3 doses, or at least 4 doses. For the purposes of this dashboard, these categories are defined as follows:

  1. At least 1 dose refers to all individuals who have received at least one dose of any COVID-19 vaccine (includes anyone classified as having received at least 2 doses, at least 3 doses, OR at least 4 doses as defined below)
  2. At least 2 doses refers to individuals who have any of the following:
    • i. Two doses of COVID-19 vaccines authorized by Health Canada (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Astrazeneca/Covishield, Novavax, or Medicago) including any mixed combination, OR
    • ii. One dose of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, OR
    • iii. One dose of a non-Health Canada authorized COVID-19 vaccine (e.g. CoronaVac/Sinovac and Sinopharm/BBIBP, or Sputnik V) AND one dose of a Health Canada authorized COVID-19 vaccine (regardless of the order), OR
    • iv. Three doses of any COVID-19 vaccine (whether or not the vaccines are authorized by Health Canada), OR
    • v. One dose of a Health Canada authorized COVID-19 vaccine AND two doses of a non-Health Canada authorized COVID-19 vaccine (regardless of the order)
  3. At least 3 doses refers to individuals who have any of the following:
    • i. Met any of the at least 2 doses criteria AND have received an additional dose of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized by Health Canada as a booster (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), OR
    • ii. Met any of the at least 2 doses criteria AND have received an additional two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized by Health Canada as a booster.
  4. At least 4 doses refers to individuals who have met any of the at least 2 doses criteria AND have received an additional two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized by Health Canada as a booster
