Inaugural Retired Teachers of Ontario/Les Enseignantes et Enseignants Retraités de L’Ontario (RTO/ERO) chair in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Toronto

2015: Awarded to Dr. Paula Rochon. The chair will support the training of specialists in geriatric medicine who will advance knowledge and provide the evidence that guides the care of an aging population. Visit the University of Toronto's Department of Medicine website for more information.

Foundation Scheme Live Pilot 1 Grant

2015: Awarded to Dr. Gillian Booth for building healthier cities: a Canadian initiative to identify environmental solutions to curb obesity (The 'Healthy Cities, Healthier Lives' research program).

International Space Station (ISS) R & D Award

2015: Dr. Mehran Anvari was awarded the International Space Station (ISS) R & D Award by NASA for his work in applying robotic technology from the International Space Station to detection and treatment of breast cancer.

American Thoracic Society Scientific Abstract Award

2015: Presented to Dr. Matthew Stanbrook for the best scientific abstract in Behavioral Science and Health Services Research. The award was presented at the ATS International Conference.

Goldie Award for Research

2015: Awarded to Dr. Lorraine Lipscombe by the department of medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Lipscombe was recognized for her research on the prevention, care and outcomes of diabetes, with a specific focus on diabetes in women.

American Thoracic Society Early Career Achievement Award

2015: The American Thoracic Society (ATS) Assembly on Behavioral Science and Health Services Early Career Achievement Award recipient Andrea Gershon for her scientific contributions in the area of lung disease.

CIHR Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship Award

2015: Awarded to Dr. Jessica Widdifield for the project "An international integrative approach to leveraging electronic health databases for outcomes research in rheumatology"

Institute Community Support Travel Award

2015: Awarded to Dr. Tetyana Kendzerska for the project "Patient income level and purchase of continuous positive airway pressure treatment among patients with obstructive sleep apnea: administrative claim-based analyses." This award is offered in partnership with the CIHR Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health.
