Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology Award for Educational Excellence
2006: Awarded to Dr. Doris Howell for her leadership role in the development of Pan-Canadian clinical practice guidelines for the management of physical symptoms and emotional distress in cancer.
Lifetime Achievement Award in Family Medicine Research
2012: Presented to Dr. Moira Stewart by The College of Family Physicians of Canada.
Award for Outstanding Contribution to Family Medicine Research
2011/2012: Awarded to Dr. Rick Glazier by the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto for his research focused on health equity at the levels of population health, clinical care, healthy neighbourhoods, and health systems. The impact of his work has included bylaw and zoning changes in Peel Region with the goal of building healthier communities and participating at the highest levels in the evaluation and reform of primary healthcare policy in Ontario.
American Society of Hematology Abstract Achievement Award
2012: Awarded to Dr. Tzu-Fei Wang. This award is presented by the American Society of Hematology to trainees with high-scoring annual meeting abstracts of which they are the first or senior author and presenter.
Research Training Competition (Restracomp) Award
2012-2015: Awarded to Dr. Natasha Saunders by the Hospital for Sick Children Research Training Centre. The award funds exceptional researchers working under the supervision of a SickKids scientist.
Thomas and Edna Naylor Memorial Award
2012: Presented to Dr. Beate Sander for best paper "Thesis in Health Services and Healthcare Research" by the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto.
Vice-President/President – World Association of Medical Editors
2012 – 2015: Dr. Lori Ferris has been selected by the Nominating Committee and Executive Board of the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) to serve as the incoming Vice-President/President-Elect of WAME. WAME is a non-profit voluntary association with 1710 members representing more than 980 journals for 92 countries. She will serve as Vice-President until December 31, 2013, and President from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2015.
