Award of Excellence in Nursing Research

2011: Presented to Dr. Linda McGillis Hall by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN). This award recognizes the individual accomplishments of a faculty member of CASN who demonstrates sustained research activity in a substantive area of relevance to nursing practice, education, and research or policy development, along with the ability to succeed in obtaining intramural and extramural funding for research activities.

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship

2011 – 2014: Awarded to Dr. Liz Darling by CIHR for her research project "The impact of the implementation of the Canadian Paediatric Society's guidelines on the detection, management and prevention of hyperbilirubinemia: a population health perspective"

Toronto East General Hospital Chief of Staff Choice Award for Research Leadership

2011: Awarded to Dr. Louise Rose.

Commonwealth Fund Harkness Fellow

2011 – 2012: Awarded to Dr. Robert Fowler for "Comparing Intensity of Care Received at the End of Life in the United States and Canada" which looked to quantify differences in intensity and costs of end-of-life care for Americans and Canadians over age 65. His measures included hospital admissions, number of physicians seen, admission to the intensive care unit, provision of mechanical ventilation, and receipt of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. He conducted a population-based cohort study of all decedents in the U.S. and Canada, using a retrospective, 2-year look-back design between 2003 and 2011.

CIHR 2010 Rising Star in Reproductive Health Research

2010: Awarded to Dr. Maria Velez. This award recognizes emerging researchers in reproductive health research.

Fellow, Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (FCAHS)

2010: Dr. Linda McGillis Hall was inducted as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (FCAHS) on September 30, 2010. The CAHS recognizes individuals of great accomplishment and achievement in the academic health sciences in Canada.

Ontario Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) Career Scientist Award

2010: Awarded to Dr. Louise Rose for effective care and health outcomes.

CIHR New Investigator Award

2010-2011: Awarded to Dr. Geoffrey Nguyen for "Prevalence of asymptomatic venous thrombosis in hospitalized inflammatory bowel disease patients and screening strategies for their early detection."

Early Researcher Awards Program, Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation

2010: Dr. Alan Forster awarded $140,000 for "The Use of Information Technology to Measure and Improve Healthcare Safety." The Early Researcher Awards program gives funding to new researchers working at publicly funded Ontario research centres.

Nursing Career Research Award

2010-2014: Awarded to Dr. Ann Tourangeau in the Nursing Senior Career Award Recipient category. The Nursing Secretariat at the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) supports outstanding researchers in the province who are in the various stages of their careers, to carry out independent research in nursing services in Ontario. The overall goal of the program is to facilitate the development of nursing health systems research personnel in Ontario.
