Dr. Darling joined ICES as a doctoral student in 2010, and became an adjunct scientist in January 2017. She is a registered midwife, and an associate professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at McMaster University. She has a Masters degree in health research methodology from McMaster University, and a doctoral degree in population health from the University of Ottawa. Her research focuses on maternal-newborn health services. Areas of interest include: midwifery services, health disparities, access to care, health policy, and perinatal health surveillance. She has particular expertise in the midwifery data collected in Ontario’s perinatal registry (BORN-Ontario).
