ICES scientist Nancy Baxter appointed as McMaster University’s next Vice-President and Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences

Congratulations to ICES senior adjunct scientist Nancy Baxter on her recent appointment as McMaster’s next Vice-President and Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences. An internationally respected leader in academic medicine, Dr. Baxter is widely recognized for advancing cancer screening and health system improvement, with more than 500 publications and over $60 million in research funding.

Dr. Baxter has also championed and supported Indigenous health initiatives, climate and health research, and equitable access to care and training. During her tenure in Melbourne, she helped create a new Centre for Indigenous Public Health (Onemda) and launched the Climate Catch Lab with a mandate to perform policy-relevant research addressing the public-health impacts of the climate crisis.
