Heart & Stroke Foundation New Investigator Competition – Distinguished Clinician Scientist Award

2012-2017: Awarded to Dr. Gustavo Saposnik for "Efficacy of virtual reality exercises using Wii gaming technology in stroke rehabilitation: a multicentre randomized clinical trial (EVEREST multicentre)".

Ontario Lung Association Breathe New Life Award

2012: Awarded to Dr. An-Wen Chan. The award is presented to a new investigator with the highest nationally ranked Grant-in-Aid research application. Dr. Chan was given the award for his research on Burden of cancer after lung transplantation.

Fellow Canadian Academy of Health Sciences

2012: Awarded to Dr. Raisa Deber. Fellows elected to the Academy are well recognized by their peers nationally and internationally for their contributions to the promotion of health science. They have demonstrated leadership, creativity, distinctive competencies and a commitment to advance academic health science.

Canadian Society of Internal Medicine New Investigator Award

2012: Awarded to Dr. Irfan Dhalla for "A Virtual Ward to Improve Post-Hospital Care." The award is offered by the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine in recognition of excellence in the field of internal medicine research by a young investigator.

Canadian Dermatology Foundation New Investigator Award

2012: Awarded to Dr. An-Wen Chan

Gynecologic Oncology Group Young Investigator Award

2012: Awarded to Dr. Lilian Gien

CIHR-IHSPR Rising Star Award

Awarded to Maria Chiu for “Deriving ethnic-specific BMI cutoff points for assessing diabetes risk”. Maria’s winning Rising Star article was cited in the Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes guidelines by the American Diabetes Association.

CIHR Research Fellowship

2012-2015: Awarded to Maria Chiu for “The built environment and risk of cardiovascular disease: a population-based study in Ontario”.

CIHR / Ontario MOHLTC Applied Chair in Health Services Research and Policy Research

Awarded to Ahmed Bayoumi for research on equity in resource allocation decision making.

Canadian Child Health Clinician Scientist Program, Career Development Award
