In Canada, payments to physicians constitute approximately 20% of provincial health care budgets. This report estimates public payments to Ontario physicians from multiple sources between 1992/93 and 2009/10 and presents these graphically by specialty and specialty group. The report examines variations between specialty groups and considers the impact of changes in the different models of physician payment, including fee for service, capitation and alternate payment plans.
