Biography

Dr. Linda Rabeneck, a gastroenterologist, clinician scientist and healthcare executive, is Vice President, Prevention and Cancer Control at Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario). She is Professor of Medicine, Professor of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, and Professor, Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto, and Senior Scientist at IC/ES (formerly the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences) in Toronto.

Dr. Rabeneck received her medical degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC). She completed post-graduate training in internal medicine and gastroenterology at UBC and the University of Toronto. She received her Master’s degree in Public Health from Yale University, where she trained as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar. Dr. Rabeneck previously served as Director of the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Toronto, and Regional Vice President, Cancer Care Ontario and Chief of the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto.

Dr. Rabeneck is a leader in health services research and evidence-based health policy. She played a leadership role in launching ColonCancerCheck, Canada’s first province-wide, organized colorectal cancer screening program. Dr. Rabeneck is the author of over 260 peer-reviewed publications and has made critical research findings that shaped our understanding of the quality and effectiveness of cancer screening. Dr. Rabeneck is an Associate Editor, GASTROENTEROLOGY, and from 2013-20 she served as Global Chair, World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) Colorectal Cancer Screening Committee, which holds international fora to discuss the science and advance the implementation of colorectal cancer screening. From 2017-19 Dr. Rabeneck served as President, Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS). She is a Master of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), recipient of ACG’s Berk/Fise Clinical Achievement Award, recipient of UBC’s Medical Alumni Association Wallace Wilson Leadership Award, the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Clinical Practice Section Research Mentor Award, and the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG) Visiting Research Professor Award.
