Evaluation of the Active TO Cycling Infrastructure Initiative

Summary:

In the spring of 2020, the City of Toronto engaged in the largest expansion of the City’s cycling infrastructure to date, adding 40 km of cycling infrastructure, including 22 km of cycle tracks. The city is interested in evaluating the effectiveness of the recent cycle tracks expansion on bicycle and pedestrian injuries in the city of Toronto in order to inform the development of recommendations for improving active transportation and public safety during the COVID-19 recovery period.

Small area population denominators for Ontario public health unit planning (Population denominators for Ontario PHUs)

Summary:

This project will generate small area population denominators to support the development of Public Health Unit (PHU) indicators, such as: Vaccine coverage estimates; Chronic disease incidence and prevalence; Hospitalization and ED visit rates; and Substance use rates. These indicators will guide the work of Ontario Boards of Health and PHU program areas.

Assessing the primary care service requirements for the City of Toronto neighbourhoods

Summary:

The project involves operationalizing the primary care workforce planning process and the model. In partnership with the City of Toronto, the TC LHIN has chosen to focus on building a body of evidence that will support exploring specific population scenarios.

Indicators for Durham Region Health Neighourhoods- Update 2023

Summary:

This AHRQ will provide an update to the previous iteration, continuting to assess how health status varies by Health Neighbhourhood in Durham Region. Specifically, diabetes, asthma, COPD, cancer screening, and premature mortality will be investigated.

Identification of disparities in health outcomes and health care utilization access and aims to improve health outcomes for Black Ontarians.

Summary:

The Black Health Equity Working Group and Ontario Health have developed a plan that includes the identification of disparities in health outcomes and health care utilization and aims to improve outcomes for Black Ontarians. Two priority areas identified in this plan include wait times to surgery specialists and cancer screening both exacerbated by service delays during COVID19.

Incidence and Prevalence of Diabetes, COPD, Ischemic Heart Diseased and Cerebrovascular Disease in Peel

Summary:

The project seeks to establish the incidence and prevalence data of diabetes, COPD, ischemic heart disease and cerebrovascular disease for the purposes of population health assessment as outlined in the Ontario Public Health Standards and requested by Peel Public Health. Peel Public Health will use these findings to make evidence-informed decisions regarding planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of public health programs.

Evaluation of Virtual Behavioural Medicine (VBM) intervention

Summary:

This project aims to determine the impacts of the Virtual Behavioural Medicine (VBM) intervention program on overall health care utilization and costs. A secondary objective is to determine the number of people in Ontario with dementia and responsive behaviours that could benefit from the VBM program.

ED visits, Repeat ED visits, and hospital admissions related to falls among seniors in Ontario – update 2022

Summary:

This is a FY2022/23 update of 2019 0950 056 000. RCA is reporting performance on key system-level indicators related to falls prevention in the community – ED visits for falls, repeat ED visits for falls, and inpatient admission, post ED visit for fall among community dwelling seniors (65+) for quality improvement provincially.

COVID-19 pandemic impacts on adults with developmental disabilities – Update

Summary:

This is a focused report evaluating the impacts of COVID-19 on adults with developmental disabilities, specifically have been tested for COVID-19 and where outbreaks are occuring. Information from this report will be used in our regions and our agencies to resource care appropriately, and to prioritize which individuals need increased supports. We can also use this information in our interactions with our local hospitals and public health units, as well as with the Ontario Health Teams.

Cardiac surgery outcomes during COVID-19

Summary:

Ad hoc reports suggest that patients undergoing cardiac surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic have been at greater than usual short-term mortality risk. This AHRQ will compare the characteristics and outcomes of patients undergoing cardiac surgery before versus during the pandemic.
