Senior Core Scientist (Full Status) ICES Central Chronic Disease & Pharmacotherapy Research Program
Dr. Juurlink is the Eaton Scholar and professor of medicine, pediatrics and health policy at the University of Toronto, where he is director of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology. He is a senior scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES), where he maintains an active research program with a focus on medication safety, the consequences of drug interactions in clinical practice, and the epidemiology of suicide and self-poisoning. He received degrees in Pharmacy (1990) and Medicine (1994) from Dalhousie University, followed by postgraduate training in Internal Medicine (1998), Clinical Pharmacology (2000), and Medical Toxicology (2002) along with a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology (2003), all at the University of Toronto. He is a general internist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and medical toxicologist at the Ontario Poison Centre, which provides advice and support to physicians across Ontario and Manitoba. He directs the Sunnybrook Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology inpatient consult service, one of only a few such programs in Canada, and is an active member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Subspecialty Committee and Examination Committee in Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology.
