2017: Awarded to Dr. Robert Fowler by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Fowler received the award for his work in West Africa during the 2014 Ebola outbreak. Watch a video about Dr. Fowler's work in West Africa.
2017: Presented to Dr. Jessica Widdifield. The award is sponsored by the CIHR Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis.
2017: Awarded to Dr. Sacha Bhatia by the University of Toronto Department of Medicine. This annual award recognizes a member of the Department of Medicine within ten years of appointment who has made a substantial contribution to the advancement of knowledge in internal medicine.
2017: Awarded to Dr. Laura Rosella by the Society for Epidemiologic Research (SER). This annual award acknowledges early career epidemiologists who have made significant contributions to epidemiology through research, teaching, mentoring or service.
2017: Dr. Richard Birtwhistle was named to the Chair by Queen's University. The Chair is for a five-year appointment beginning January 1, 2017.
2017: Awarded to Dr. Mona Loutfy in the clinical sciences category. Scientists awarded this prize have achieved a track record of excellence and demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of those living with HIV or at risk.
2017: $1 million grant awarded to Dr. Janet Smylie to train healthcare personnel to overcome racial biases which can lead to healthcare delivery inequities. Read more about the grant.
2017: Awarded to Dr. Ruth Hall by the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation. The SOG Award recognizes IHPME graduates who have demonstrated leadership and innovation in shaping the healthcare system. Dr. Hall received the award for the paper "Does the volume of ischemic stroke admissions relate to clinical outcomes in the Ontario stroke system?" published in Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes.
2017: Dr. Maria Chiu selected by CivicAction as a DiverseCity Fellow of 2017. The DiverseCity Fellows are emerging leaders from various sectors who have made an impact in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. CivicAction’s DiverseCity Fellows program provides opportunities for emerging leaders to further develop leadership and increase their impact.
2017: Awarded to Dr. Bheeshma Ravi for "A population-based assessment of opioid use before and after total joint arthroplasty."
