Topic: Investigating risks associated with viral respiratory infections (VRI) in patients with or at risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD)
Learning objectives
- Compare the burden of adverse outcomes following common VRIs (i.e., due to influenza and respiratory syncytial virus) among patients with varying CMCs in Ontario, using a population-based retrospective cohort study.
- Identify predictors of first and recurrent cardiopulmonary hospitalizations and death among patients across North America at high risk of cardiovascular events via a recurrent events analysis of the INfluenza Vaccine to Effectively Stop cardioThoracic Events and Decompensated heart failure (INVESTED) pragmatic trial.
- Investigate which seasonal influenza vaccine strategy is associated with the best reduction in adverse cardiovascular outcomes in patients with CVD, using a Bayesian network meta-analysis of global influenza vaccine CVOTs.
