ICES brings together the best and brightest scientific talent. Many of our scientists are internationally recognized in their fields and receive national and international awards and recognition for their important work.
2017: Awarded to Dr. Chris Simpson by the Hotel Dieu Hospital and Kingston General Hospital's Medical Staff Association. This award honours medical staff members in good standing with five or more years of service who demonstrate outstanding contributions to the medical community.
2017: Dr. Richard Birtwhistle was named to the Chair by Queen's University. The Chair is for a five-year appointment beginning January 1, 2017.
2016: Awarded to Dr. Amer Johri for having made the most meritorious contributions to health research during the previous year or several years.
2016-19: Early Researcher Award (ERA), Ministry of Research and Innovation, awarded to Dr. Amer Johri. The ERA supported the Vascular Imaging as a Barometer for Early Detection of Heart Disease (VIBE Program). The goal of the program was to validate the concept that vascular ultrasound can be used as an early warning “barometer” for vulnerable plaque.
2016: Awarded to Dr. Timothy Hanna for "Estimating the demand for radiotherapy from the evidence: a review of changes from 2003 to 2012".
2016: Awarded to Dr. Timothy Hanna.
2015: Awarded to Dr. Richard Birtwhistle by The College of Family Physicians of Canada. The award honours individuals who are trailblazers and leaders in family medicine research.
2015: Dr. Richard Birtwhistle recognized by The College of Family Physicians of Canada for his work with the Canadian Primary Care Sentinel Surveillance Network (CPCSSN), a pan-Canadian network of practitioners with electronic medical records (EMRs).
2015: Dr. Chris Simpson included in the Medical Post's "Power List" of the 30 most powerful physicians in Canada, identified through a survey of their peers. The list was included in the 50th anniversary issue of the journal published in September.
2015-2020: Awarded to Dr. Jason Beyea.
