ICES scientist Irfan Dhalla honoured for contributions to health technology assessment
ICES adjunct scientist Dr. Irfan Dhalla today received the Dr. Maurice McGregor Award at the 2017 CADTH Symposium in Ottawa for his contributions to the field of health technology assessment (HTA) in Canada. This award recognizes rising stars in HTA, who have the potential to be leaders in the field and advance HTA research.
Dr. Dhalla became interested in evidence-based medicine and the field of HTA early in his career, as a medical student on rotation with ICES adjunct scientist and former ICES CEO Dr. Andreas Laupacis.
“Those conversations with Andreas really opened my eyes — and opened doors — to the world of HTA,” said Dr. Dhalla.
Dr. Dhalla’s research focus at ICES includes healthcare quality, health policy/reform and health services research. He is also Health Quality Ontario's vice-president of evidence development and standards.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Dhalla.
