ICES founding CEO Dr. David Naylor will lead new review panel for federal funding of fundamental sciences
The Government of Canada announced today the launch of a new federal panel, The Advisory Panel for the Review of Federal Support for Fundamental Science, which will review federal funding processes for science and scientists in Canada. ICES founding CEO and scientist emeritus Dr. David Naylor will lead the independent panel, comprised of research leaders from across Canada.
"I look forward to working with my fellow panellists and with Canadians in assessing the programs that support researchers who are charting new frontiers in investigator-initiated research. Our review will provide the Government with the evidence it needs to build upon Canada's ambitious research culture,” says Dr. Naylor.
Over the next six months, the panel will advise Science Minister Kirsty Duncan on how to improve federal science programs and initiatives to support Canada’s research and scientists. They will review three granting councils and some federally funded organizations that provide federal support for research.
