Biography

Dominique-Michelle Legacy is Director of Indigenous Partnerships, Data and Analytics at ICES, where she leads work to build meaningful partnerships and advance Indigenous data governance. Dominique oversees portfolios that support Indigenous-led initiatives and research, with a focus on upholding Indigenous data sovereignty and ethical governance practices.

Dominique brings over a decade of experience working alongside Indigenous communities in health and community settings. She previously worked at the Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre, supporting mental health and community-led approaches to care. Dominique regularly contributes to panels and presentations, where she advocates for cultural safety and strong Indigenous data governance in research and health systems.

A Mi’kmaw and Acadian French woman, Dominique is a member of the Sickadomec community (Harquail Clan) and is registered with Elsipogtog First Nation in New Brunswick. She holds a Master of Health Sciences from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Psychology from the Université de Moncton. Born and raised in northern New Brunswick, Dominique now lives and works in Ontario.
