Health Sciences North Foundation Research Chair in Cardiovascular Health
2024: Appointed by Health Sciences North Research Institute, Dr. Mohammed Shurrab will use his role to enhance cardiac research and care in the North.
Adjunct Scientist ICES North Cardiovascular Research Program
Dr. Shurrab is an early career investigator and a clinical cardiologist and electrophysiologist who focuses on optimizing care and outcomes for patients with cardiovascular disease, particularly patients with cardiac arrhythmias. He is currently a scientist and the Cardiovascular Research Chair at Health Sciences North Research Institute, the Medical Director of the cardiology department at Health Sciences North, and an associate professor at Northern Ontario School of Medicine University. He is also an assistant clinical professor (adjunct) at McMaster University. He is an adjunct scientist at ICES. He completed his PhD in clinical epidemiology and health care research at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto in October 2024. His research production is nationally recognized as he has led the publication of more than 60 peer-reviewed papers and 70 abstracts in reputable journals and conferences. He has been awarded multiple grants to support his research. Also, He was awarded the prestigious Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Fellowship Award in 2018, and he has ranked third in the health research group across the whole competition.
