CIHR-IHSPR Rising Star Award

Awarded to Maria Chiu for “Deriving ethnic-specific BMI cutoff points for assessing diabetes risk”. Maria’s winning Rising Star article was cited in the Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes guidelines by the American Diabetes Association.

CIHR Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarship

2008-2011: Awarded to Maria Chiu, ranked first in Canada, for “Race, Ethnicity and Cardiovascular Health (REACH): a population-based study in Ontario, Canada”.

Ontario Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) Career Scientist Award

2005 – 2010: Awarded to Dr. Leah Steele for "Exploring, understanding and ameliorating socioeconomic disparities in ambulatory mental health service use".

Robin Badgley Award for Teaching Excellence

2003: Awarded to Dr. Susan Bondy by the Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
