This report provides an overview of big data analytics and the rapidly developing field of data science and identifies opportunities and challenges for their effective application at ICES. The report's recommendations call on ICES to forge new partnerships, modernize data integration processes, pursue the creation of a data safe haven, exploit in-house holdings of biomedical big data, and expand expertise in data science methods.
