ICES scientist Dr. Rick Glazier to lead CIHR Institute of Health Services and Policy Research

ICES senior scientist Dr. Rick Glazier has been appointed the new scientific director of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (IHSPR), effective January 1, 2019.

“Everyone in the ICES community is thrilled for Rick and the opportunity to host IHSPR. As lead of our Primary Care and Population Health program he’s produced outstanding and highly policy relevant research. I have no doubt that as director of IHSPR, Rick will enhance CIHR and IHSPR’s capacity to catalyze rigorous and actionable research that will make health policy better, strengthen the health system and lead to greater value and improved patient outcomes” says Dr. Michael Schull, CEO of ICES.

Dr. Glazier is a family physician at St. Michael's Hospital and a scientist in its Centre for Urban Health Solutions. He is also a professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. His research interests include evaluating health system transformation, primary care health services delivery models, health of disadvantaged populations, management of chronic conditions, and population-based and geographic methods for improving equity in health.
