ICES Research Video Series featuring ICES fellow Natasha Saunders

Share

Dr. Natasha Saunders of the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) and The Hospital for Sick Children discusses her new study showing that rates of unintentional injury for immigrant children and youth are half that of Canadian-born kids, demonstrating that the "healthy immigrant effect" applies not only to illness, but for injuries as well. However, the study also showed that socioeconomic status and age have different associations with injury risk than that seen in the Canadian-born population, raising new questions for further research and prevention strategies..
