Biography

Wendy Ungar is a senior scientist in child health evaluative sciences at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), an associate professor at the University of Toronto's Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, and an affiliate scientist at ICES. She is the program director for the International Master's in Health Technology Assessment and Management at the University of Toronto. She has held a Canadian Institutes of Health Research New Investigator Career Award. Her book, Economic Evaluation in Child Health, was published by Oxford University Press in 2010. Dr. Ungar leads a program of research in the application of health economic methods to the paediatric population and also investigates the relationship between policies governing access to prescription medicines and health outcomes in children. In 2007, Dr. Ungar started TASK (Technology Assessment at SickKids), a research unit focusing on technology assessment of pediatric health interventions. In collaboration with clinician scientists at SickKids, Dr. Ungar and TASK have completed several studies across a broad range of clinical areas. Dr. Ungar and her team also maintain the PEDE database, a popular online HTA tool that allows users to search for pediatric economic evaluations published on any topic and utility weights for pediatric health states.
