Biography

Dr. Edwards is an epidemiologist and health services researcher, an early career scientist at Hamilton Health Sciences, an assistant professor (part-time) in pediatrics, and the Research and Evaluation Lead for the Extensive Needs Program at McMaster Children’s Hospital. His research focuses on generating evidence to inform practice and policy that reduce health and social disparities among children, youth, and families in Canada. He uses innovative study designs and methodologies to examine the epidemiology, implementation, and evaluation of new models of care supporting children and youth with extensive mental, neurodevelopmental, and social needs. Interdisciplinary at its core, his work draws from social, pediatric, and psychiatric epidemiology and integrates diverse quantitative and mixed-methods approaches. Across all projects, Dr. Edwards prioritizes underserved and diverse populations, advances inclusive and rigorous methods, and engages in knowledge translation to inform policy and strengthen equitable care delivery.
