Description: Prolonged wait times are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. P-CATS wait time targets were developed through expert consensus to establish surgical wait time benchmarks for wait 1 (time to consult) and wait 2 (time to surgery) though studies demonstrate targets are inconsistently met. An association between longer wait times and living further away from hospital has been inconsistently demonstrated, leading to a gap in the current understanding of surgical wait times for pediatric patients in Northern Ontario.
