Congratulations to ICES adjunct scientist Dr. Prabhat Jha, who received the Trailblazer Award in Population Health Solutions from the CIHR Institute of Population and Public Health (IPPH). The CIHR-IPPH Trailblazer Award recognizes researchers who have substantially contributed to population health intervention research. His research on global tobacco control enabled a global treaty on health, now signed by over 180 countries.

"I am deeply honoured to receive the CIHR-IPPH Trailblazer Award. This prestigious award is recognition of collective efforts that have halved premature deaths from smoking in many populations, and a reminder that much more needs to be done in Canada and globally,” said Dr. Jha.

Dr. Jha’s research focus at ICES includes addiction, international healthcare, and chronic diseases and conditions. He is also director of the Centre for Global Health Research of St. Michael’s Hospital, and holds the Endowed Chair in Epidemiology and Global Health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Jha on this achievement!
