Biography

Laura Rosella holds a BSc (Hons) in statistics and life sciences, an MHSc in community health and epidemiology and a PhD in epidemiology, all from the University of Toronto. Following her doctoral work, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship through the CIHR Strategic Training Program in Public Health Policy.

Dr. Rosella's research is focused on population risk tools and public health intervention assessment as applied to obesity and diabetes. In addition, she is interested in the integration of scientific evidence and tools into public health decision-making. She is the principal investigator on two CIHR-funded research grants focused on quantifying future risk and burden of type 2 diabetes in Canada and guiding the adaption, implementation and evaluation of the Diabetes Population Risk Tool (DPoRT) in practice.

Dr. Rosella joined ICES as an adjunct scientist in 2012.
