Project title: Using case-finding algorithms on routinely collected administrative data to identify study outcomes in patients with early stage breast cancer
Principle Investigator: Marie-France Savard
Description: The project team completed 2-year follow-up for all patients within the REaCT-Zol trial in April 2023. The team has a particular interest in establishing whether case definitions for disease recurrence that have been established in prior published research can be used as a means of measuring disease recurrence and PFS, as recurrence is not captured within administrative data. The project team is completing a scoping review of existing case definitions shortly to identify the top 3 case definitions based on their accuracy performance, their face validity, and in considering data available at ICES. Once established, the team will link the clinical trial data set to ICES data holdings. The trial data will include the ‘traditional CRA follow-up’ measures of disease recurrence, PFS and breast cancer specific survival, and we wish to compare how well we can approximate these quantities using linked ICES data.
