PROACTIVE PSO: Enhancing access to Psychosocial Oncology (PSO) care for vulnerable patients
Summary
Project ID: 2021-914/ TRIM 2024 0970 347 000
Principal Investigator: Madeline Li
Description: The goal of this research is to conduct an implementation science study of Proactive PSO, a multi-component assemblage of health service interventions to enhance access to PSO care for all new patients at PMCC. The new model will be associated with increased distress screening rates, patient satisfaction, uptake of PSO care in demographically vulnerable groups and decreased healthcare utilization. The data required from ICES will include ER visits and hospital admissions for patients at PMCC before and after implementation of routine emotional distress screening and before and after implementation of Proactive PSO. The research team will conduct a data linkage to explore positive correlations.
