The outcomes of patients receiving CABG surgery at Ontario's 11 cardiac surgery centres were examined for 2005/06 and 2006/07. CABG surgery mortality rates continued to decline despite the proportion of high-risk CABG surgery patients remaining relatively stable. In-hospital mortality rates in Ontario were among the lowest in North America (1.13% during the study period). This is likely due to ongoing advances in perioperative CABG care.
