Dani Prieto-Alhambra

Biography

Dr. Dani Prieto-Alhambra is an epidemiologist and academic clinician scientist using routinely collected (real world) health data to generate reliable evidence for improved patient care. Dr. Prieto-Alhambra investigates the use, safety, effectiveness and cost of drugs and devices as used in usual practice conditions and amongst older people with complex health needs. He leads pharmaco- and device epidemiology research in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) at the University of Oxford, and has experience designing, analyzing and interpreting electronic medical records from around the world. He has worked on multiple real world data assets nationally and internationally, and has specialized in network studies using the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) Common Data Model (CDM). He has joined the European Health Data & Evidence Network (EHDEN) and the Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI) in an effort to accelerate and improve the quality of real world evidence internationally. Since February 2022, he has been the Deputy Director for the European Medicines Agency’s Data Analysis and Real World Interrogation Network (DARWIN EU) Coordination Centre, and leads the Development pillar for the generation and/or validation of analytical tools to generate real world evidence for regulatory use.
