Share

ICES is pleased to announce that Dr. Aaron Jones has assumed the role as site director of ICES McMaster, effective July 1, 2023. Aaron began as an ICES student with the Life Stage Research Program in 2018 and was promoted to fellow in 2020 and scientist in 2022. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact at McMaster University. He also serves as the research lead at the Waterloo Regional Campus of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine. Aaron is a health services researcher and biostatistician with expertise in the use of health administrative data and data science methodologies. His research program investigates the health service use of older adults with on-going care needs, with the goal of discovering how to better organize, manage, and deliver the care that older adults need to age well in their preferred location. His work has been supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Let us also take a moment to recognize and thank Dr. Hsien Seow, who served as ICES McMaster’s site director for the past seven years. During Hsien’s inaugural tenure, the McMaster site has grown to include 11 ICES scientists and currently supports 47 investigators in several dozen active projects. The site has also trained over 50 students and post-doctoral fellows. We want to sincerely thank Hsien for his dedicated leadership and vision. Hsien remains with ICES McMaster as full adjunct scientist in the Cancer Program.

Please join us in congratulating both Aaron and Hsien!
