Health Human Resources for Neurosurgical Services in Ontario

Neurosurgical resources have been stretched to capacity and, in some circumstances, beyond. Ontario could soon face a severe shortage of neurosurgeons and related specialists unless important changes are made. This report describes types of services and providers, current and future demand for/supply of services, emerging treatments and current technology. The report provides workable recommendations to mitigate system-level medical staffing and technology issues affecting access to neurosurgery, complex spinal surgery and interventional neuroradiology.
