ICES adjunct scientist recognized for surgical mentorship

Dr. Nancy Baxter received the Bryce Taylor Mentorship Award from the University of Toronto’s Department of Surgery at its annual Gallie Day event on May 11. The award recognizes faculty members who emulate the traits of Dr. Bryce Taylor, a former surgeon-in-chief at the University Health Network and associate chair in the Department of Surgery. Dr. Taylor was highly regarded for his mentorship of students, residents, fellows and faculty, and was considered a role model for professionalism in surgery.

Dr. Baxter is chief of the General Surgery Department at St. Michael's Hospital and a professor in the Department of Surgery and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at U of T. Her research focuses on evaluating patterns of cancer care, cancer screening and prevention, and the quality and safety of surgery.
