Kimberlyn McGrail

Biography

Kimberlyn McGrail is a professor at the UBC School of Population and Public Health and the Centre for Health Services and Policy Research, director of research for UBC Health, and scientific director at Population Data BC and Health Data Research Network Canada. McGrail holds a PhD in healthcare and epidemiology from the University of British Columbia and a Master’s degree in public health from the University of Michigan.

McGrail’s research interests include quantitative policy evaluation and all aspects of population data science. She is deputy editor of the International Journal of Population Data Science and the Commonwealth Fund’s 2009–10 Harkness Associate in Healthcare Policy and Practice. In 2016 she received the Cortlandt JG Mackenzie Prize for Excellence in Teaching and was a 2017 recipient of a UBC award for excellence in clinical or applied research. In 2019–20, she served the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research as a member of its Task Force on AI4Health.
