Dr. Vyas is a general neurologist and a clinician-scientist at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital. He is an assistant professor at the University of Toronto in the division of neurology and an adjunct ICES scientist. He received academic training in India (medicine), Western University (epidemiology and biostatistics) and the University of Toronto (neurology, and clinical epidemiology and healthcare research). He has had multiple peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals such as BMJ, Neurology and Stroke. His work has been funded through the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
His research evaluates and addresses inequalities in health, with a focus on neurological disorders, including stroke. He intends to build on his thesis work on immigrant health to study the influence of various social determinants of health on neurological health using linked administrative health data.
