ICES Queen’s has become a cornerstone of the Health Services and Policy Research Institute within the Faculty of Health Sciences, with research covering the assessment of healthcare delivery and the effectiveness, including cost-effectiveness, of drug therapies and treatment programs.
In the spring of 2006, ICES made a proposal to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) that an ICES site be established at each of the Ontario medical schools and the University of Waterloo in order to increase access to high quality data for researchers and broaden capacity for policy-relevant health services research. The proposal was endorsed by the MOHLTC and a plan to pilot this model at Queen’s University was established in 2007.
