ICES adjunct scientist named Women’s Heart and Brain Health Chair

ICES adjunct scientist Dr. Husam Abdel-Qadir has been awarded the Early Career Women's Heart and Brain Health Chair by the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research for his project Characterising heart and mind health post-chemotherapy in women with breast cancer. The award is intended to generate new knowledge that improves awareness, prevention and understanding of how biology and sociocultural factors affect women’s heart and brain health.

Dr. Abdel-Qadir is a cardiologist at Women’s College Hospital and the University Health Network, and an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. His research focus at ICES includes cardiovascular disorders, cancer and social determinants of health.
