Summary
The 2017/18 surge bed strategy increased capacity in Ontario hospitals during peak times of use. The evaluation aims to determine whether the strategy was successful in reducing hallway medicine. Daily average number of emergency department visits and length of stay will be compared in hospitals that received the additional funding. The findings will help to evaluate the implications of providing hospitals with additional beds and future funding.
