Summary
There are an estimated 3,345 cases of sickle cell disease in Ontario. However, many of those affected by the disease are not treated in comprehensive care centres and as a result are not recorded on any patient registry. By gathering data from several administrative databases, the knowledge user intends to understand the burden of this disease and determine the resource requirements of comprehensive care.
