Research Question/Objectives: The client has several objectives around patient demographics, healthcare resource utilization, and health outcomes for Metabolic Dysfunction Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD).

Objectives:

  • To describe key patient demographic (e.g., age, sex) and clinical characteristics (e.g., year of index date, presence of comorbidities, Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI)) of the study cohort and subgroups, in Ontario, Canada
  • To describe the all-cause healthcare resource utilization (HCRU) and direct costs to the public payer of the study cohort and subgroups following index date and compare to their respective matched general population controls in Ontario, Canada
  • To describe health outcomes (e.g., cardiac events, liver cirrhosis, liver transplant, liver cancer) of the study cohort and subgroups following index date and compare to matched general population controls in Ontario, Canada
