Project title: Cold and heat-related injuries and ED usage plausibly to avoid weather-related exposure among people experiencing homelessness

Type of response: Research report or technical brief

Knowledge User: Unity Health Toronto

ICES Scientist: Refik Saskin

Summary: People experiencing homelessness are known to have excess risk of cold related injuries and ED usage to avoid cold exposure. It’s unknown whether recent City of Toronto improvements to winter service planning has changed this, or whether other forms of exposure (e.g. heat) are common. This project will measure and assess disparities in weather exposure related events.

Status: In progress
