Research Question/Objectives: The objective of this study is to understand the drug and non-drug healthcare utilization and costs for people living with diabetes before and after adapting the FreeStyle Libre® system in a Canadian population, specifically in Ontario. The study will focus on understanding overall healthcare costs for public payers and consequences of using the FreeStyle Libre® system for patients.
Objectives:
- Characterize the Canadian patient population living with diabetes who go on to effectively use the FreeStyle Libre® system in terms of demographics and clinical characteristics including HbA1C, baseline treatments for diabetes, comorbidities, hospitalizations, and years since diagnosis.
- Investigate healthcare resource utilization patterns and HbA1C for patients before and after adoption of the FreeStyle Libre® system.
- Investigate changes among the applicable profile characteristics from Objective 1 for patients before and after adoption of the FreeStyle Libre® system.
