Description: The project team is interested in investigating the feasibility of staging a natural experiment investigating the effects of access to Paxlovid by comparing the effects of Canada’s Paxlovid distribution and dispensation strategies to the strategies used in the United States. Specifically, the team would like to investigate Paxlovid’s effects in the context of strict age criteria, such as those used in most Canadian provinces, in order to attain causal estimates on Paxlovid’s effects on mortality and hospitalizations. If outcomes for Canadian Paxlovid users improved, the team would then look at U.S. data to investigate how equitably Paxlovid was distributed and infer what effect its distribution had on outcomes in the U.S.
