Summary

Project ID: 2022-1010/ TRIM 2024 0970 345 000

Principle Investigator: Amanda Downey

Description: The project team’s overarching aims are to investigate whether OHIP plus (the introduction of universal and confidential access to contraception for Ontarians youth and young adults in January 2018) and OHIP minus (the restrictions introduced in April 2019 which limited universal and confidential access to contraception to those without private drug insurance) impacted contraceptive use and abortion use in Ontario youth and young adults. More specifically, we aim to examine the impact of OHIP plus and OHIP minus in Ontario youth and young adults on: i. the use of long-acting reversible contraceptives; and ii. a proxy indicator of unintended pregnancy: abortion use
