Dr. Rick Glazier is a senior core scientist at ICES and scientific director of the Institute of Health Services and Policy Research at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). He is also a staff family physician at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and a scientist in its Centre for Urban Health Solutions as well as a professor at the University of Toronto in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, and Dalla Lana School of Public Health.<\/p>\n
\nHis research interests include evaluating health system transformation, primary care health services delivery models, health of disadvantaged populations, management of chronic conditions, and population-based and geographic methods for improving equity in health.<\/p>\n
\nDr. Glazier has been involved in a number of research projects including those investigating how to best deliver primary healthcare services, optimizing healthcare for refugees, improving cancer prevention in deprived neighbourhoods, and advancing health and wellbeing in urban neighbourhoods.<\/p>\n
\nHe is the author of more than 260 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has been named one of the top 20 pioneers in family medicine research by the College of Family Physicians of Canada.<\/p>\n
\nPrior to his appointment as scientific director of the CIHR Institute of Health Services and Policy Research, he had supported the Institute as a member of its Institute Advisory Board. He has also served as a College of Reviewers chair, in which role he provided guidance to CIHR on strengthening peer review. From 2006 to 2018 he was the scientific program lead for Primary Care and Population Health at ICES.<\/p>\n
\nDr. Glazier earned his medical degree at Western University and completed his family medicine residency at Queen’s University.
