Congratulations to ICES senior adjunct scientist Nancy Baxter<\/strong> on her recent appointment as McMaster’s next Vice-President and Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences. An internationally respected leader in academic medicine, Dr. Baxter<\/a> is widely recognized for advancing cancer screening and health system improvement, with more than 500 publications and over $60 million in research funding.<\/p>\n

Dr. Baxter has also championed and supported Indigenous health initiatives, climate and health research, and equitable access to care and training.\u00a0During her tenure in Melbourne, she helped create a new Centre for Indigenous Public Health (Onemda) and launched the Climate Catch Lab with a mandate to perform policy-relevant research addressing the public-health impacts of the climate crisis.<\/p>\n
