This enhanced support reflects a deeper integration of the ICES Western mission within LHSCRI\u2019s strategic priorities, reinforcing a shared commitment to high\u2011quality, data\u2011driven\u00a0population\u00a0health\u00a0science, training, and\u00a0innovation. This alignment will further support\u00a0scientists and trainees across the London research community, including through our partnership with Western University and Lawson Research Institute of St. Joseph\u2019s Health Care London, and enhance the impact of ICES Western\u2019s work. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This period of strengthened\u00a0partnership\u00a0also marks an important moment of leadership transition for ICES Western.\u00a0ICES is pleased to announce the appointment of\u00a0Dr.\u00a0Michael Haan as Site Director of ICES Western, effective April 1, 2026.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559685&quot;:0,&quot;335559737&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:279}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Michael is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at Western University and has served as the Academic Director of the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/rdc.uwo.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Western Research Data Centre<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0since 2016. He is formerly a Canada Research Chair in Population and Social Policy at the University of New Brunswick and a Canada Research Chair in Migration and Ethnic Relations at Western. His research focuses on population dynamics, housing, migration, and social inequality, with a strong emphasis on the use of administrative data to inform public policy.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">An experienced research leader, Michael has led\u00a0numerous\u00a0large\u2011scale, data\u2011driven initiatives and has worked extensively with municipal, provincial, and federal partners to support evidence\u2011based decision\u2011making. He is also a founding co\u2011director of the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unb.ca\/datanb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">New Brunswick Institute for Research, Data, and Training<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0(now\u00a0DataNB).<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Michael succeeds Dr. Kristin Clemens, who has served as Site Director of ICES Western since 2023. Under Kristin\u2019s leadership, ICES Western has strengthened its role as a vital platform for health research, training, and evidence\u2011informed decision\u2011making across the London research community. Her tenure saw expanded support for investigator\u2011initiated research, enhanced mentorship and training opportunities, and increased knowledge sharing through initiatives such as the\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Research Bites<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0seminar series and a refreshed\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ICES Faculty Scholars Program<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.
