ICES brings together the best and brightest scientific talent. Many of our scientists are internationally recognized in their fields and receive national and international awards and recognition for their important work.

  • Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG) Visiting Research Professorship

    2020: Awarded to Dr. Linda Rabeneck. The award is presented to a member of CAG who is a proven teacher and an outstanding researcher.

  • Dr. Jill M. Sanders Award of Excellence in Health Technology Assessment

    2020: Awarded to Dr. Wendy Ungar by CADTH. The award recognizes an individual who has significantly advanced the field of health technology assessment in Canada.

  • Dr. Maurice McGregor Award

    2020: Presented to Dr. Kelvin Chan by CADTH. The award recognizes early career rising stars in health technology assessment.

  • Early Career Researcher of the Year - Public Health and Epidemiology

    2020: Awarded to Dr. Jodi Edwards by the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. The award is presented to an early stage investigator who has earned distinction for their unit and Faculty due to the importance and exceptional features of their research.

  • Clinical Research Chair in Strengthening Primary Care for Integrated Health Equity

    2020-2025: Awarded to Dr. Claire Kendall by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa.

  • Henry J. M. Barnett Scholarship

    2020: Awarded to Dr. Amy Yu by the Heart and Stroke Foundation for the project "Determining sex disparities In Stroke Care and Outcomes to optimize recoVERy (DISCOVER)". The prize is given annually to a highly rated cerebrovascular research investigator.

  • Heart & Stroke National New Investigator Award

    2020: Awarded to Dr. Amy Yu for the project "Determining sex disparities In Stroke Care and Outcomes to optimize recoVERy (DISCOVER)". This award provides salary support to individuals who have clearly demonstrated excellence during their doctoral and post-doctoral training in cerebrovascular research.

  • Heart & Stroke National New Investigator Award

    2020: Awarded to Dr. Jodi Edwards for the project "Risk assessment for women's heart and brain health across the lifespan". This award provides salary support to individuals who have clearly demonstrated excellence during their doctoral and post-doctoral training in cerebrovascular research.

  • American Association of Hospice Palliative Medicine Research Scholars Program

    2020: Awarded to Dr. Sarina Isenberg for her work on "Observing, Understanding, and Telling stories at end of Life for Opioid Use Disorder patients (OUTLOUD)" study. Read more

  • William Fields Caveness Award

    2020: Awarded to Dr. Angela Colantonio by the Brain Injury Association of America. The award is presented to an individual who, through research on both a national and international level, has made an outstanding contribution to improving the lives of people with brain injury.
